Alexander Barsegian, a dedicated military veteran and passionate historian, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on October 15, 1929, in Dearborn, Michigan, Alexander's life was marked by service, devotion to his family, and a deep enthusiasm for history.
His commitment to his country was profound. Alexander served honorably with the United States Air Force and proudly received the World War II Victory Medal as well as the Army of Occupation Medal for Japan. These commendations stand as a testament to his courage and dedication during a pivotal time in history.
Beyond his military service, Alexander was an avid Civil War buff and military enthusiast. His passion for history enriched his life and those who had the opportunity to share in his knowledge and stories.
Alexander is remembered and cherished by his surviving family members: his brother, Haig (Alice) Barsegian; his niece, Natalie (Tommy) Hanlon; and his great-niece and great-nephew, Isla Hanlon and Liam Hanlon, respectively. Their bond remained a source of strength and happiness throughout his life.
A graveside service to honor Alexander's memory will be held on June 23, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Chattanooga National Cemetery, located at 1200 Bailey Avenue in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
