Alyx Christopher Moten, age 32 of Middle Tennessee passed away unexpectedly October 30, 2026 in Lincoln, NE. He was in the first graduating class of South Gibson County High School in 2012 in Medina, TN. Alyx was baptized last year on August 17 and spent his final months pursuing Christ with eagerness. Everyone who knew Alyx knew him as a humble, authentic, gentle man with a servant’s heart. He loved fiercely, patiently, and unconditionally and found great joy in giving anything he had to help others. He was also extremely quick witted and loved making people laugh. Alyx loved spending quality time with friends and family any chance he got. He particularly enjoyed joining their Tennessee friends for long-distance game nights every Sunday night. He was an involuntary cat dad, even though he was allergic. Alyx was a devoted and beloved husband to his wife Jessica. He and Jessica loved to vacation, taking 1 or 2 cruises per year together – his favorite cruise was to Alaska. He moved with her to Nebraska to support her as she finished her degree in nurse anesthesia and worked hard to make sure Jessica could focus on her educational and career goals. He took great pride in carrying all the responsibilities of working, cooking and keeping the household together while she pursued her dreams. Alyx was a phenomenal husband, son, brother, uncle and friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Thomas James Transue; paternal grandmother, Jane Jennings; uncle, Thomas James Transue II. Alyx leaves behind his wife of eight years, Jessica Marie Barr Moten of Franklin, TN; parents, Chris & Sandi Moten of Springfield, TN; sister, Emily (Jason) Wong of Springfield, TN and Makenzie (Dedrick) Hunt of Smyrna, TN; maternal grandmother, Marilyn Transue of Clarksville, TN; father in-law & mother in-law, Craig & Margie Barr of Franklin, TN; brothers in-law, Joshua (Lauren) Barr of Chattanooga, TN, Lukas Barr of Chattanooga, TN and Jeremiah Barr of Nashville, TN; nieces, Nora, Stella, Isla, Collins and Callie; many loving aunts, uncles, cousin and many other loving family members.
Funeral service will be held 4:00PM Tuesday, November 10, 2026 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation in honor of Alyx’s memory.
