Ann Isbell Scott

September 15, 1935 — April 19, 2025

Brentwood

Mary “Ann” Isbell Scott, age 89 of Brentwood, TN, entered her heavenly home on April 19, 2025. Ann was born September 15, 1935, in Huntland, TN, the youngest of 11 children born to James F. Isbell, a farmer and Baptist minister, and Enzena S. (Smith) Isbell, a homemaker. Although her mom died six months after Ann’s birth, Ann always said she had a wonderful childhood growing up on a farm with her dad, brothers, and sisters. At the age of 9, Ann asked Christ into her life, which she said was the most important decision she ever made. After graduating from Huntland High School, where she was a cheerleader, she attended Belmont University in Nashville, TN, and met her future husband, Edward B. “Eddie” Scott, their freshman year. Ann and Eddie married in December 1956, graduated from Belmont in May 1957, then left Nashville for over a decade after Ed joined the US Marine Corps immediately after graduation. Ann earned a business degree at Belmont and worked in various offices until their first child was born. Ed and Ann moved to Brentwood, TN, in 1971 where she invested her life into raising their three children, Mark, Brenda, and Kert. Ann enjoyed time with family and friends, reading, crafting, sewing, and cooking. Ann was especially known for her delectable roast beef with rice and gravy, which was requested at every family gathering. Ann and Ed were active members at several area churches, including Belmont Heights Baptist, Two Rivers Baptist, and most recently, at Judson Baptist for the past 30 years. A Sunday School teacher for over 55 years, Ann loved studying the Bible, taking dinner to others, and serving on her church’s bereavement committee. Her greatest desire was to point others to Jesus. Even in her 89th year, she read through her Bible twice, and always remembered to wish each family member a happy birthday, along with giving a gift and card. Warmly referred to as “Annie” by her grandchildren, she was sweet, kind, hospitable, and intentional; she loved deeply and will be greatly missed. Along with her parents and husband of 61 years, Ann was preceded in death by her siblings; brothers James, William (Libby), Howard (Sarah), and Paul (Ann) Isbell, and sisters Enzena (Hugo) Doerschuk, Darthy (Matt) Nations, Kathleen (Leonard) Saylor, Ruth (Earl) Dawson, infant sister, and Frances (Charlie) Smothers; grandson Cameron Scott. She is survived by sons Mark (Susan) Scott and Kert (Leslie) Scott; daughter Brenda (Danny) Jeffries; grandchildren Chelsea (Garrett) Gregory, Chloe, Clay, Claire, and Connor Jeffries; Lauren (Chris) Welch and Landon (Alex) Scott; Olivia (Praisim) Peter, Preston, Dalton, and Jordan Scott, and 12 great-grandchildren. A private graveside service was held at Williamson Memorial Gardens, Franklin, TN on April 25, 2025, with Dr. Garrett Gregory officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. www.williamsonmemorial.com
