BEVERE, Anna Catherine (Kay), went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 2, 2023. Kay was born February 7, 1927 in Hoboken, New Jersey, the daughter of Peter and Catherine (Vanderbilt) Verdicchio. She graduated from Queen of Peace High School in 1944 and briefly attended Hudson Community College where she studied office, secretary skills. She then worked for Western Electric at the Kearney Works plant for six months.
In 1948, Kay married the love of her life, John Bevere, whom she had met the year prior at a church function. Over the years, they relocated several times and the family resided in the cities of New Brunswick NJ, Louisville KY, Londonderry, Northern Ireland, Whitehall and Kalamazoo MI, Parkersburg WV, Colorado Springs CO and Vero Beach FL. In 2021, Kay relocated to the Nashville, TN area, where she passed away peacefully at her home, just a few days shy of her 96th birthday.
Kay enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling to new places and experiencing new adventures. In her earlier years she loved playing and hosting Bridge games, holding monthly dinner parties, sailing and playing tennis. Later on, she especially loved playing Bingo, taking exciting cruises, and sitting across the Chinese Checkers board, beating her most formidable opponents – most recently her great-grandson, Asher.
Her faith was of utmost importance to her. Throughout her life, she was a devout Roman Catholic and always extremely active in church. She rarely missed a Sunday Mass or a Day of Holy Obligation. When it was absolutely necessary to miss, she would attend Mass online.
Surviving Kay are her children, Barbara (Donald) Switzer, John Jr. (Lisa) Bevere, Laura (Dale) Willbur, and Rhee (Paul) Pinza; seven grandsons, Aaron (Danielle), Peter (Kelly), Addison (Julianna), Austin (Jessica), Alec (Madeleine), Arden (Christian), and Donovan; sister, Rosemary (Robert) Verdicchio Sodon; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her precious husband, John; daughters Anna and Kathryn and her brother Peter Verdicchio.
Donations may be directed to St. James Catholic Church in Montague, MI, 5149 Dowling St. Montague, MI. A Celebration of Life is planned for the summer of 2023 in the Montague area.
