Barry Stephens

July 13, 1951 — May 14, 2024

Abilene, Texas

Barry Raymond Stephens, born on July 13, 1951, in Nashville, TN, will be warmly remembered by family and friends as a dedicated Director of Air Pollution Control for the State of Tennessee. With a Master's Degree in hand from his beloved Vanderbilt University, Barry devoted his career to ensuring a cleaner environment for future generations.

Barry peacefully passed away on May 14, 2024, leaving behind his loving wife, Julia Stephens, his two children, Jessica (Kent) Luster and Brandon Stephens, and his grandchildren, Aven Grace Luster and Joshua Crockett Luster.

Preceding Barry in death were his father Raymond Stephens, and his mother Marjorie Stephens, a son Joshua Thomas Stephens.

Throughout his life, Barry worked tirelessly to protect the air we breathe, leaving a lasting impact on his community. Barry loved to enjoy the outdoors, that he worked so hard to protect, by spending time fishing either on the ocean, on a lake or in a small mountain stream.  He was a committed Christian who loved his family.

A funeral service at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home will be held at 2:00 pm on May 21st, 2024 with a time of visitation preceding the service at 1:00 pm.  A graveside service will be held at Williamson Memorial Cemetery immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Jim Ned Valley Church of Christ, Concord Road Church of Christ, or Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Barry Raymond Stephens will be deeply missed, but his legacy of dedication and service will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
