Ben Charles "Chuck" Bono III, 78, of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, faith, and a life well lived.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Chuck spent most of his life in the city he called home before moving to Franklin, Tennessee, six years ago. He earned his undergraduate degree from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, and later received his MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.
While Chuck had many professional accomplishments, his greatest joy was always his family. He and his beloved wife, Julie, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, marking a lifetime of love, partnership, and shared adventures. Together, they raised two children, Ben and Ashley, and were blessed with four grandchildren who brought him tremendous happiness.
Chuck had a passion for travel and adventure, exploring destinations around the world and proudly visiting all 50 states. A friend to all, Chuck had a wonderful sense of humor, whether through a quick sarcastic remark or one of his famously terrible dad jokes.
His Christian faith guided his life. Chuck loved the Lord and lived out his faith through kindness, generosity, and the way he treated others. His faith was reflected not only in what he believed, but in the life he lived and the relationships he built.
When asked how he was doing, Chuck could often be heard offering his own version of a line from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn: "I'm as happy as an angel with a belly full of pie." It was a fitting expression for a man who brought so much joy to those around him.
Above all, Chuck will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful Christian, and genuinely good man. His legacy lives on through the family he loved, the friendships he made, and the countless lives he touched.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Julie Bono; his son, Ben Bono, and wife, Laura; his daughter, Ashley Hendel, and husband, Dustin; and his four beloved grandchildren, Beau, Cameron, Kenzie, and Cole.
A memorial service celebrating Chuck's life will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee, with visitation preceding the service from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
All are invited to join the family as they remember, honor, and celebrate a man who meant so much to so many.
