Deborah “Debi” Weldon Connnor, age 69, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025. She was born on January 2, 1956, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late Lawrence Davis and Margret Cutchins Weldon, and grew up in Virginia Beach.
Debi’s life was defined by her passion for horses, her love of animals, and her adventurous spirit. Alongside her beloved husband, David Richards, she built a remarkable life in Ocala, Florida. She founded and operated DC Sales and Marketing, where she imported many horses each year from Europe, touching countless lives in the equestrian community.
Her deep connection to horses was more than a career—it was her calling. That passion also inspired the film A Sunday Horse, for which Debi proudly served as executive producer, sharing her story with the world.
When not working with horses, Debi found joy in her dogs, who were her constant companions, and in her love for the ocean. She especially cherished time spent at her favorite beaches, from the serene sands of St. John to the shores of St. Augustine and the lively spirit of Key West.
In addition to her parents, Debi is preceded in death by her brother, Larry Weldon, and sister, Betty Weldon.
Those left to cherish Debi’s memory are her husband, David Richards; sister, Peggy Batz (Alf); niece, Debi Allen; nephew, Noah Batz; and caregiver, Amy Thompson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alive Hospice of Nashville.
The care of Deborah “Debi” Weldon Connor and her family has been entrusted to the staff of Williamson Memorial Funeral Home.
