Elinor Eileen Hall (née Schory), beloved educator, musician, and cherished family member, passed away on April 4, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 95. Born March 5, 1930, in Canton, Ohio, she studied and taught art in her early career, and later dedicated three decades to teaching special education classes at Johnson Elementary in Franklin TN, where she touched the lives of countless students with her passion for education.
Elinor received her Bachelor's Degree from Kent State University and her Master's Degree from Peabody College, furthering her ability to inspire and educate young minds of all abilities. Her enthusiasm and talents extended beyond the classroom; she was also an accomplished violinist, playing in orchestras and small ensembles throughout her life.
Elinor was a longtime member of Berry's Chapel Church of Christ, where she found joy and solace in her faith and community, teaching Sunday school for many years. Elinor possessed a warm and optimistic spirit that resonated with everyone she encountered. Her spiritual outlook brought her gratitude, resilience, and contentment. Her legacy includes an unwavering commitment to education, a love for music, and a deep devotion to her family.
Elinor is survived by her two sons, Mark A. (Diana Greene) Hall of Winston Salem, NC, and David S. Hall of Nashville, TN; her daughter, Kaye M. (Ronald) Watson of Antioch, TN; her grandchildren, Sandra Watson, Sherry (Daniel) Fross, Marissa (Patrick Nerz) Hall, Tyler Hall, and Jeremy Watson; and her great-grandchildren, Theo and Cyrus Nerz, and Asher Fross.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce C. Hall; her twin brother, Everett Schory; her brother, Ken Schory; and her sister, Gladys Stewart. She is also remembered as the former wife of Larry C. Hall, the father of her children.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home located at 3009 Columbia Avenue, Franklin, TN 37064. Burial will take place after the funeral service at Williamson Memorial Gardens.
Elinor Eileen Hall's life was a testament to the impact an individual can have through education and service. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her and will forever be remembered for the love and joie de vivre she brought to her family and community -- especially to children of all ages.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Berry's Chapel Church of Christ.
