Elizabeth Pincus

November 26, 1941 — October 30, 2022

Huntsville

Elizabeth Ann Pincus, 80, of Huntsville, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on  Sunday, October 30, 2022.  She was born on November 26, 1941, in Cedartown, Georgia, the daughter of Walter and Ola Pauline Pittman.

Ann married Bruce R. (Bob) Pincus and had four children: Teresa (Robert) Bradlee of Virginia, Deborah (Karen) Pincus of Tennessee, and Barbara Hays of Alabama.  She was preceded in death by her son Robert Wayne and her husband.  She is survived by 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a large extended family.

Bob and Ann met in Atlanta while he was attending Georgia Tech.  After graduation and marriage, they made their home in Davidsonville, Maryland, eventually moving back to the South after Bob’s retirement.

Ann led an industrious, adventurous and interesting life.  She had an insatiable, lifelong desire for learning and loved attempting new things, embarking on new careers, and traveling to new places.

In the 70’s, Ann was the first ‘milkmaid’ in Maryland, rising at 3 a.m. to drive a delivery truck through the narrow streets of Annapolis for Green Springs Dairy.  She also ran a kindergarten from her home, sold real estate, owned a plant nursery, taught at a local business school, and tutored underprivileged students in the early days of computer science.  She was very interested in architecture, general contracting and design, and she and Bob drafted plans and built a solar passive envelope house in the 80’s. After raising her children, She matriculated at the University of Maryland, graduating with honors.

She and Bob enjoyed traveling the globe and toured Russia, China, Japan,  Egypt, Israel, Turkey, and South America.  Cruise vacations were a favorite form of relaxation.

Ann had a passion for reading and most days would find her with a cup of coffee and a good book.  She also loved  puzzles, bridge, games around the table, bowling, golf, square-dancing, gardening, and whale-watching in Hawaii.

Ann was a very kind person and a polite southern woman.  She was smart, an  ardent patriot, a good cook, had a lovely sense of humor and beautiful smile.

We loved her very much and she is deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
