Frank James Barscz, age 73, of Smyrna, TN, passed away July 21, 2026 in Murfreesboro, TN, after a long illness. He was born October 13, 1952 in Oil City, PA to the late Casimir John Barscz, Sr. and Evelyn Stanley Barscz.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Frank met the love of his life while they were in high school. His career eventually brought them to Tennessee, where they built a life together and welcomed their daughter, Melissa.
Frank was also a proud veteran who honorably served his country, a commitment that reflected the selfless and caring way he lived his life.
Frank never met a stranger. Known as the "mayor" of his neighborhood, he was a true social butterfly who loved making people laugh and smile. He had a generous heart and found joy in serving others. Frank spent countless hours creating beautiful beaded crosses, which he gladly shared with nurses, police officers, and anyone whose path he crossed. He also enjoyed taking homemade cookies to local first responders as a simple way to show his appreciation.
A man of deep faith, Frank was devoted to Christ and faithfully enjoyed watching services from Christ Community Church online. His kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith touched the lives of so many.
Above all, Frank was a loving husband, devoted father, proud "Papa," cherished brother, and beloved brother-in-law. He was a good man whose life was defined by his love for God, his family, and those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jane Barscz; daughter, Melissa Garcia and her husband, Eddie; beloved granddaughter, Jean Grey “Peanut” Garcia; sisters, Judith Keltz, Patricia Marshall, and Margaret Aherns; brother, John Barscz.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to A Soldier’s Child Foundation.
