Gladys Marconi, 87, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Friday, September 25, in Middle Tennessee.

More than anything, Gladys loved her family. Her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were at the center of her life, and there was no greater joy for her than simply spending time with the people she loved. Whether gathered together for an ordinary day, sharing laughter, or sitting down for a game of dominoes, the moments she treasured most were those spent surrounded by her family. Her love for them was constant, unconditional, and at the heart of who she was.

To her family, Gladys was lovingly known as “Ita,” a name that began when her grandson Vincent was a little boy and couldn’t quite pronounce Abuelita. The name stayed, and over the years it came to mean so much more than a nickname. “Ita” became a name filled with love and countless memories. One that represented the warmth, laughter, and unconditional love she brought into the lives of her family.

Gladys had an unforgettable sense of humor and a gift for making those around her laugh. She brought warmth and joy wherever she went and made even the simplest moments together memorable.

Gladys was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vincent Marconi; her mother, Adelaida Perez; and her brothers, Pancho, Gonsolo, and Rigoberto. She is survived by her daughters, Lisa and Yliana (Dell); her grandchildren, Jake, Vincent, Shayna, and Derrick; her great-grandchildren, Alexia and Keone; her brothers, Ricardo and Carlos; her sister, Lila; and many other family members and loved ones who will carry her memory with them.

Gladys was Catholic, and her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with her beloved husband, and in the presence of Jesus. While her absence leaves an immeasurable space in the lives of those who loved her, her family is grateful for the years, memories, laughter, and love they were blessed to share with her. They now have the most beautiful angel watching over them.

Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Gladys knew just how special she was. She will be remembered for her laughter, her humor, and the countless little moments that made her unmistakably Ita. Above all, she will be remembered for the tremendous love she had for her family and the love she gave so freely throughout her life.
