James Walter Greer, Jr.

James (Jimmy) Walter Greer Jr., age 67 of Nashville, TN entered his eternal home on Monday, September 9, 2024. He was born to the late James W. Greer and Lessie Lorena Meredith on November 25th, 1956. He and his family lived in several locations during his childhood, but the place he considered as "home" was the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home in Brentwood. He was known by his friends and family as Jimmy, but he was known as "Mr. Jimmy" by the many, many students who rode on his Williamson County school bus for several years. During his youth, Jimmy loved spending time at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway where his father drove a race car for a period. Jimmy loved talking about the "good ole days" with anybody who would listen. Jimmy was a "foodie" and loved a really good burger. There weren't very many restaurants he didn't visit. He took great pride in his children (Nikki and Daryl Ann), grandchildren, brother and sisters, his Mam-Maw and Pawpaw and his Aunt Nancy and Uncle Billy. He loved family get-togethers because they usually included two of his favorite things: reminiscing and food. He loved watching old television shows and movies. The one thing he took the most pride in was his time as a school bus driver. He knew the name of every child and most of the parents and they certainly knew him. His kind personality and contagious laugh will be forever missed by his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister: Mary Jane Greer, and his paternal grandparents: Lawson Greer Sr. and Leona M. Greer. He is survived by daughters: Jamie Nicole Barnes (Joel) of Lebanon and Daryl Ann Greer of Shelbyville, grandchildren: Brock Grayson Barnes, Brixley Capri Barnes, Emerson Presley Pauliot, brother: Ricky D. Greer of Mt Juliet, sisters: Debbie Greer Chamberlain of Franklin, Tammy Marie Greer Culin of Daytona (FL) and Janet Lynn Greer Daniels of Spring Hill, aunt and uncle: Nancy & Billy Vandygriff of Pleasant View.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 29 at 4:00 PM with visitation two hours prior to the service at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Billy Vandygriff will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Vandygriff, Doug Vandygriff, Eddie Vandygriff, Joel Barnes, Brock Barnes, Mike Ladd and Ricky Greer.
