James William “Jim" Stark, Sr passed away at his home in Thompson’s Station, TN surrounded by his loving family and friends on September 30, 2026 at the age of 85.
Jim was born on May 27, 1941, in Mount Clemens, Michigan. He graduated from Romeo High School in 1959 then attended Western Michigan University and graduated1963 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He started his career as a draftsman on January 17, 1964, at Fischer Body and continued to work with General Motors and retired after 39 years with Saturn Corporation. He married Karen Glisch on April 4, 1964 and was married for 27 years.
Jim was involved in St. Peter Lutheran Church as an elder for many years. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, bowling, golf and was a ferocious Euchre player.
Jim married Carol Krawcyk on February 27, 1998 in Franklin, Tennessee. They enjoyed traveling, dancing and socializing with their many friends.
Jim was loved by many in Michigan and Tennessee and had an infectious smile and will be missed by all who met him.
Preceded in death by his parents Carl and Gertude “Gertie” Kreger Stark, the mother of his children, Karen Glisch Stark and sister Brenda Schwark and brothers-in-law Bill Schwark and Nelson Schramm.
Survived by his wife, Carol Krawcyk “Carol K” Stark; son, James W. “Jim” Jr. (Cindy) Stark; daughters, Heather (Steve) Simpson and Deirdre (Steve) Heisinger; bonus children, Jon Paul (Melissa) Krawcyk and Adrianna Ryan; grandchildren, Brad (Lauren) Humphrey-Stark, Meg Stark, Bailey (Johnny) Marcinkowski, Drew Stark, Dalton (Lauren Wasney) Simpson and Garret Simpson; bonus grandchildren, Kali, Kinzley & Kora Krawcyk; great-grandchildren, Annie James Marcinkowski, Lance Simpson and Luke Simpson; sisters, Barbara Schramm and Beth (Ron) Kling; beloved pet, Sassy and many other loving family members. A gathering of friends will take place Sunday, October 4, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Hauss Modetz Funeral Home and service at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Macomb, MI. Burial will be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Macomb, MI. Memorials may be made to Tunnel to Towers, Wounded Warriors or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
