Karla was born to her parents, Rev. Robert H. Lewis, Jr. and Wylodene Lewis on January 15th, 1966 in Cookeville, TN. She graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1984. In November of 1993, Karla married the love of her life, Paul Moffatt.
Growing up, Karla and her sister, Kristine, were two peas in a pod. Since their daddy was a United Methodist pastor and they moved around a lot, they were always close. Karla always said her two favorite places they lived were Cookeville and Columbia. Kristine was her best friend and playmate.
When Paul and Karla married, she became stepmom to Adam, always loving him like he was her own. In 1993, not only were Paul and Karla married, but they also had their firstborn, Zach. Four years later, their daughter Alex was born. Spending the majority of their family life in Kingston Springs, TN, Karla took on numerous leadership responsibilities, mostly around the activities Alex and Zach were interested in. Karla was heavily involved in the South Cheatham Little League, various travel teams (baseball, basketball, and soccer) and was a founding member of the South Cheatham Soccer group, now known as Harpeth Benevolence Association, which oversees the soccer complex for Harpeth Middle and High School.
Karla was a leader at her home church, Pegram United Methodist. There she volunteered on numerous committees as well as volunteered with the children’s and youth ministries.
Karla and Paul’s marriage was one of partnership and a true testimony to the endurance of true love.
Karla never met a stranger, always made sure people knew they were loved and welcomed. She always looked out for others. Even as she was undergoing her cancer treatments, she was looking out for others, making sure they were cared for.
She will be dearly missed by all—family and friends. To know Karla was to love her. She relied on her faith, especially during these last few months, showing all a profound example of pure faithfulness and trust in Christ.
Karla was preceded in death by her mom, Wylodene Lewis and both her maternal and paternal grandparents.
She is survived by her father Rev. Robert H. Lewis Jr.; her husband Paul; her sister Kristine Badger (Alec); her children: Adam Moffatt (Madison), Zach Moffatt (Kara), and Alex Moffatt; her grandchildren: Tyler Moffatt, Emma Moffatt, William Moffatt, Ava Moffatt, Emri Moffatt, and Mack Moffatt; and her nieces and nephews.
