Kenneth James
Dunlap Jr.
Feb 9, 1957 — Oct 25, 2026
Murfreesboro
Kenneth James Dunlap Jr., of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away on October 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 9, 1957, in Huntsville, Alabama.
Ken graduated from Bob Jones High School with the class of 1975. He graduated from the Police Academy and served as a police officer with the Huntsville Police Department for several years. He retired from a career as a computer systems analyst for the Department of Defense at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montogomery, Alabama.
Kenny had a calm, but adventurous spirit. He loved motorcycles, fishing, golfing, the Auburn Tigers and telling a funny joke. He could always be counted on to share a good story, give a tidbit of useless trivia knowledge, and make delicious food for his family (no cheese of course).
Kenny will be remembered with love and affection by those who knew him and by the family who shared in his life. At the center of that family was the love of his life, Debbie Dunlap, with whom he shared 23 years of marriage. He is also survived by his step-sons, Scott (Brandy) Lanier, Justin (Kylie) Wilbanks, and William Dunlap; his step-daughters, Robin (Chris) Burton, Kim Mann and Haylee (Danny) Meador.
He was a treasured Poppy to his grandchildren, Baylee (Jacob) Robertson, Isom Wilbanks, Avery Kate Burton, Addison Lanier, Ema Wilbanks, Ansley Burton, Thatcher Lanier, McKinley Meador, Olivia Meador, Charli Colburn, Jack Meador, Ryker Dunlap and Serenity Dunlap. Their lives stand as part of the family circle that brought him enduring pride and love.
Also surviving is his loving sister, Karen (Mike) Moore, his nephew Brandon (Shannon) Moore, his niece Kera (Jaaron) Honea, his great niece Audrey Anna Honea and great nephews Jay Moore, Cole Moore, Zach Moore and Elias Honea, who he was so proud of.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth James Sr. and Minnie Louise Dunlap, and by his brother, Arthur Dunlap.
Kenny’s passing leaves sorrow in the hearts of those who loved him, but also gratitude for the years they shared with him. May his family and friends find comfort in one another, the lasting memories they hold of him and the promise of Heaven.
Memorial services to be announced at a later date.
