Linda Bridges Henderson, 78, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, in Brentwood, Tennessee, surrounded by the family she cherished so deeply. Born on November 17, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Linda lived her life with a remarkable spirit of kindness, generosity, and faith—truly embodying the qualities of a Proverbs 31 woman. As a little girl growing up in Southeast Missouri, Linda loved tagging along with her dad to the hardware store and easily forgave her mother for the occasional home perm and unfortunate short haircut. She met her devoted husband, Tom, while they were both working as college students in the Harding University cafeteria in Arkansas. Married in Memphis, Tennessee, Tom and Linda built a 57-year life together—a shining, God-centered partnership that inspired everyone who knew them. After earning her teaching degree from Harding University, Linda taught in the Memphis City School System, working tirelessly to support Tom through medical school. After they moved to Dexter, Missouri, and their family began to grow, Linda poured her heart into being a stay-at-home mother in full force, becoming the absolute epitome of an affectionate, patient, caring, and loving mom to her four children. After 27 years in Dexter, Tom and Linda embarked on a new chapter by relocating to Brentwood, Tennessee. Linda was a steadfast source of support as Tom stepped into his role as Medical Director for Faith Family Medical Clinic. She quickly threw herself into volunteer work at their beloved church, Harpeth Hills Church of Christ, and simply being “Nana”. Linda brought a nurturing, engaging, and joyful spirit to every space she entered. She loved to sing and had a soft spot for ABBA and the Oak Ridge Boys, just as much as she loved her favorite hymn, “Victory in Jesus.” Famous among her family, friends, and church community for her incredible homemade shortbread cookies, Linda’s love lived in the warmth of her home and the comfort of her kitchen. She treasured family memories, keeping detailed trip journals and carefully assembling photo albums documenting the classic Henderson family road trips out West. She also found simple, profound joy in God’s creation, cherishing the companionship of her beloved little dog, Buck, and watching resident hummingbirds pause by her window for a quick nectar stop. Though her physical body was worn out in her final days, her loved ones hold fast to the promise expressed in one of her favorite praise songs, “Made for More” :“I wasn’t made to be tending a grave, I was called by name, born and raised back to life again. I was made for more. ”Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Tom Henderson; their children and their families: Joel Henderson and his wife, Alicia, and their children, Nate (Hannah), Eden, and Ivy (Evan)Ben Henderson and his wife, Lisa, and their children, Mark (Grace), Jack, and Will Mary Henderson and her children, Kent, Tom, Rives, and Kathryn Dan Henderson and his wife, Hannah, and their children, Julien and Estella. She is also survived by her wide circle of dear extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reval and Glenna Bridges, and her siblings, Nick Bridges and Susan Lynn.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harpeth Hills Church of Christ Sunny Day Club, Faith Family Medical Clinic, EEM, and/or Mission Resource Network.
