With deep love and gratitude for her life, we announce that Linda C. Kelly went to be with the Lord on September 15th, 2025. She passed peacefully in her home after a short battle with cancer. She was born on February 19th, 1950, in Knoxville, TN, to William Ambrose Cooper and Frances Sliger Cooper.
Linda was a graduate of Farragut High School and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Linda dedicated her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse. She spent over three decades of her nursing career at Williamson Medical Center. With compassion, patience, and skill, she touched countless lives during her career. Her legacy of care and empathy will live in the many lives she touched both inside and outside the hospital. Even in retirement, she found purpose in helping care for family and friends during times of need.
Linda loved her granddaughters, siblings, husband, and children fiercely, and her devotion to her family was the heart of her life. She had a generous spirit and found joy in helping those less fortunate, always extending kindness and compassion wherever it was needed. Her love and selflessness will be remembered by all who knew her.
Linda loved living in the country, sitting on her front porch, watching her hummingbirds, and walking her country road. She found joy in common, ordinary, full-of-life moments. She wrote in her journal, “We are not guaranteed tomorrow. Make each moment count and what counts most is how we love others.” Her love for the Lord guided her steps, and her church family at Spring Hill United Methodist was a source of strength, joy, and fellowship.
She was preceded in death by her parents William Ambrose Cooper and Frances Marie Cooper; sisters Peggy Gregg and Loretta Robertson; brothers-in-law Mike Gregg and Bill Robertson; niece Stacie Mundy; and her beloved dog Oscar.
Surviving family includes husband Robert (Bob) Kelly, daughter Erika Gilbert and her husband Jeremy, son Robert Kelly, granddaughters Allison and Anna Gilbert, sisters Martha Thompson and Susan Fann, and brother James Cooper.
The family is deeply grateful to the 5th floor hospital staff at St. Thomas Midtown and the nurses with Gentiva Hospice, whose gentle care and unwavering kindness brought comfort to her and to those who loved her.
The family will have a celebration of life at Spring Hill United Methodist on September 27th at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the food pantry Well Outreach or to a charity of your choice.
