Lloyd Douglas Smithson was a lifelong resident of Williamson County. His parents, Lloyd Henderson Smithson and Nannie Lane Smithson, were also lifelong residents of the county.
Doug graduated from Bethesda High School in 1954 and remained friends with many of his classmates throughout his life. He and Nellie Pewitt Smithson were married August 12, 1955. They moved to Southall Road in 1967, where he lived until his death. Early in his career, he delivered RC Cola in the area. He later owned a Little Debbie snack franchise. After retiring from Little Debbie, Doug worked with Franklin City schools as a bus driver for several years. He was a member of Southern Hills Church of Christ.
Doug was precedęd in death by his parents, wife Nellie Pewitt Smithson, son Terry Michael Smithson, brothers Raymond Henderson Smithson and Joe Donald Smithson, sisters Annie Belle Smithson White and Louise Smithson Hooper.
He is remembered lovingly by his survivors: son, James Douglas (Jimmy) Smithson, grandchildren, Kyle Smithson (Nikki Goodwin), Jennifer Smithson Flynt, Katie Smithson (Zach Hamilton), Michael Smithson (Savannah), and seven great-grandchildren Skyler Smithson, Charli, Cole, & Gavin Flynt, Ella Hamilton, Chamberlian & Ruthi Smithson. He is also survived by sister, Martha Faye Smithson Mitchner, as well as several nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned for a later date. There will be a private interment at Williamson Memorial Gardens.
