Mary Arnold

Mary Thomas Johnson Arnold, age 80 of Franklin, TN passed away October 10, 2020. She was born in Nashville, TN to the late John Thomas Johnson, Sr. & Mildred Vaughn Johnson. Mary was a 1958 graduate of St. Cecilia Academy and attended Peabody College. She was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Madison, TN and current member of St. Philip Catholic Church in Franklin, TN. Mary was retired from the Metro Nashville Public School System where she worked in administration, teaching and counseling. She loved to read and enjoyed utilizing her local libraries. She was also an avid TITANS FAN, and her greatest fan moment was witnessing firsthand the Music City Miracle. Mary is preceded in death by her dear husband, Alfred Nelson Arnold, Sr., and her sister, Elizabeth Marie Johnson. Survived by her sons, Alfred "Fred" Nelson, Jr. (Charlotte) Arnold of Rocky Mountain, NC and Patrick Thomas (Ruth) Arnold of Goodyear, AZ; daughters, Lisa Marie Arnold of Falls Church, VA and Mary Andrea (Tom Williams) Arnold of Franklin, TN; grandchildren, Rebecca (Reggie) Ortega, Shelly Leininger, Rheann Leininger, Katie Ward, Ellie Ward, Allie Williams, Ryan Williams and Sophie Williams; brother, John Thomas, Jr. (Daneen) Johnson of Hermitage, TN; sister, Mimi LeMaire of Hermitage, TN; sisters in-law, Sandra (G.W.) Mallard of New Johnsonville, TN and Dimple (Rick) Stewart of Cookeville, TN; many other loving family members. A Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Friday, October 16, 2020 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Father Ed Steiner celebrant. A private burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Cecilia Academy Scholarship Fund. Because of COVID, Tommie's children have chosen to provide all our friends and family with the option of attending their mother's funeral virtually. The service will be live streamed at www.stphilipfranklin.com and will also be recorded for viewing later on the church's Facebook page and YouTube channel. We are thankful for those choosing to attend Tommie's funeral mass in person but please understand that masks and social distancing will be required.
