Josephine Dye, 91, of Franklin, Tennessee passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026 after a short illness. She was born August 8, 1935 in Amory, Mississippi to Richard and Verna Vaughn. She married first, Marrice Bannister, and had one son. She married later, Ray Dye. She was an accountant for many years. She and Ray drove trucks cross-country for a period of years after that. She then became a Bob Ross certified instructor and spent many years painting and teaching art.
She took special pleasure in holding children’s art camps, and paint parties. She had a love of teaching. She had an enthusiasm for life and was always surrounded by smiles and laughter, and many friends and family who loved her.
Josephine is survived by her sons Jerome (Candida) Bannister, Troy (Suzie) Dye, Stephen (Tina) Dye, Danny (Rita) Dye, sisters Oleta Hays, Wynell (John) Williams, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Verna Vaughn, her husband Ray Dye, daughter Crystal Brown, sisters Kathy Brasfield, brother Wayne Vaughn.
Service will be held Monday, August 31st, at 11AM at Williamson Memorial 3009 Columbia Ave. Franklin, TN 37064. Visitation 10-11. Family has asked that donations be made to Harvest Baptist Church in her memory.
