Paul Myers Fleenor

October 30, 1933 — September 6, 2025

Franklin

Col. Paul M Fleenor(Ret), age 91, of Franklin, Tn, passed from this life on Saturday, September 6th, surrounded by his loving family. After a long, arduous battle with Alzheimer's disease and a brief illness, he is at peace and reunited with the love of his life, Elizabeth Ann, his wife of 69 years.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings. He is survived by his 3 adoring children, daughters Carol(Candy) Davis and Deborah(Ramon) Cisneros, both of Franklin, Tn. and son, Richard(Barbara) Fleenor of Kingston, Tn. He took great pride in his 7 grandchildren, Jesus(Tibisay) Cisneros, Desiree Cisneros, Michael(Rachel) Davis, Cesar(Cindy) Cisneros, Chris(Kristen) Davis, Amanda(Brian) Huggins, and Daniel(Ell) Cisneros and his 13 beautiful great-grandchildren that brought him such joy. He will be remembered for his love and devotion to family and service to his country and community.

Paul was a veteran of the Korean War, returning home in 1954 to then join the Tn. Army National Guard where he would spend most of his adult career. After working for 41 years of combined service, he retired from his Civil Service position in October of 1993. During his years of service, he had completed an Associate Degree of Business from Jackson State Community College and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. His extensive military education culminated with the successful completion of U.S. Army War College in 1983. His highest rank held during his active duty career was Colonel. After retirement, he became a member of the Tennessee Defense Forces and was assigned to the position of Chief of Staff and held the rank of Brigadier General.

His civilian life after his long military career was filled with service to his community and family. He actively worked with Habitat for Humanity in support of their mission, trips with First United Methodist Church for missions work along with serving on various committees in their organization. He was honored as a local Hometown Hero for his tireless efforts to help establish a Middle Tennessee Honor Flight for WWII Veterans and was honored to be the Grand Marshal for the Veterans Day Parade in Franklin.

In recent years, his love and devotion was focused on his wife and family. After losing his wife Ann in 2023, he spent his time entertaining the younger family members that would visit with him. He truly enjoyed their company and was always grateful for the time they spent with him. He took great pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren even though he said he wasn't old enough to have so many. Our PopPop with his sweet smile and wave goodbye, will be sorely missed by all.

We must acknowledge and thank all of the medical professionals that have cared for Dad during his long battle. Most especially and most recently, Rebecca Mullaney,RN who cared for our Mother and then stayed to care for Dad, the dedicated nursing staff at NHC-Cool Springs and the amazing therapy department that worked with him toward his goal to go home, Trey Hill and his friends from Clearview Baptist that built his ramp, then the wonderful doctors and nurses at Williamson Medical that gave us a little more time, we are forever grateful.

Arrangements are being handled by Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will take place Friday, September 12th, from 1p.m. - 3p.m. with the funeral service to commence at 3p.m. He will be laid to rest with military honors in the Williamson Memorial Gardens following the service.

If you wish to make a donation in Paul's honor in lieu of flowers, The Middle Tennessee Honor Flight, Pat Summit Alzheimer's Foundation and Tennessee Fisher House Foundation were among his favorites.
