Phyllis Babalian

Phyllis Ann (Formo) Babalian, age 93, of Franklin, TN passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Phyllis was born in Montevideo, MN on May 28, 1928 to the late Emil & Huldah (Nelson) Formo.  When Phyllis was a young woman, she and two friends traveled from Granite Falls, MN to Berkeley, CA to begin their careers. There, Phyllis met the love of her life, Peter Babalian. They married on June 26, 1953 in Granite Falls, MN. Peter and Phyllis raised their family in Berkeley and Walnut Creek, CA. Phyllis was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Together, the family spent many summers on the campground and the winters skiing. Additionally, Phyllis enjoyed being involved in her children’s school activities, several volunteer organizations, garden club and bridge clubs. In 1976 they moved to Missouri and spent their retirement years boating on Weatherby Lake, traveling throughout the United States in their camper van called the "Blue Goose", and volunteering at Hillcrest Thrift Shop and Platte Woods United Methodist Church. Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Michelle Babalian of Overland Park, KS and Denise (Dennis) Bollinger of Franklin, TN, son Mark (Rebecca) Babalian of Ocala, FL; sister, Vionne Johnson; grandchildren, Jason (Ann) Bollinger and Julie Bollinger, Alexandra (Jason Thul) Babalian, Margaux Babalian, Lisette Babalian, & Jack Babalian; great-grandson, Brooks Bollinger and many extended family members and friends. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Harlan Formo, and sister Elaine Moe. A Celebration of Life service will be held11:00AM Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Platte Woods United Methodist Church, 7310 NW Prairie View Road, Platte Woods, MO 64151. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Platte Woods United Methodist Church to the Peter and Phyllis Babalian Memorial Scholarship Fund which is distributed to any Church member for post high school education in any field such as trade, vocational or collegiate.
