Terry Owen
Larimore
Jan 31, 1943 — Aug 14, 2026
Terry Owen Larimore passed away on Friday, August 14, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee. He was 83 years old.
Terry was born January 31, 1943, in Kirkwood, Missouri, to Loren A. Larimore and Charlotte (Cosgrove) Larimore.
After graduating from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri, in 1965, Terry proudly served his country as an officer in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1974, attaining the rank of Captain. As a weapons director and radar site commander, he served during the Vietnam War as Senior Director of a weapons site. For his distinguished service, Terry received the Bronze Star Medal and an Oak Leaf Cluster in 1972 for helping establish a large radar base in Bavaria, Germany, that remains in use for air defense today.
Following his service in the Air Force, Terry, his wife, Elisabeth (Lisa) Zwickenpflug, and their oldest daughter, Elisabeth (Stutzi), moved to Hopkinsville, Kentucky. There, Terry became CEO and part owner of W. Jeff Hammond Moving and Storage, a business he co-owned with his father, Loren A. Larimore. Terry and Lisa also went on to have another daughter, Theresa (Tess) while living in Hopkinsville.
In time, Terry transformed his lifelong enthusiasm for airplanes and trains into a new career, becoming the owner of three hobby shops. What began in Hopkinsville grew to include locations in Clarksville and Nashville, Tennessee. It was a fitting endeavor for someone whose fascination with airplanes, trains, and the mechanics and history behind them remained a source of joy throughout his life.
After deciding to close the Hobby Shop businesses in 1998, Terry made his home in Franklin, Tn with his wife Gaye Sandall. He and Gaye enjoyed traveling (especially to Gaye’s hometown in Nebraska), attending the Titans football games, and cooking.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents Loren and Charlotte Larimore, brother Jim Larimore and wife Gaye Sandall.
Terry is survived by his daughters, Stutzi Hixson (Jim) and Tess Miracle (Floyd); his grandsons, Harry and Max Hixson; his sister, Bonnie Sexton and her three sons John (Sophie), William and Michael Sexton; sister-in-law Terry Louise Larimore (Jim) and her daughter Kelly Larimore, and his beloved partner, Marilyn Kubicek.
Terry lived a life marked by service, enterprise, curiosity, and the things that brought him genuine pleasure: airplanes, sports, cooking in the kitchen and laughing with friends and family all while Pat Metheny jazz played nearby. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask you donate to Terry’s passionate cause Smile Train at www.smiletrain.org.
