Thomas Vernon Hoek, age 83, of Brentwood, TN passed away September 17, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who lived a life of purpose, faith and devotion. He was born in West Sayville, Long Island, New York, later growing up in Grand Rapids MI, where he attended Calvin College, earning a degree in Economics. He then answered the call to serve his country and became a decorated Army Lieutenant during the Vietnam War.

After his military service, Tom entered the insurance industry, eventually making his way to Nashville, Tennessee, where he built a successful career as a National Life of Vermont Agency Manager and established an insurance training and licensing company. Through his work, he had the opportunity to teach, mentor and encourage countless people as they began their own careers. He took great pleasure in helping others find their way and succeed.

He also knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures. He loved golf, working in the yard, travel, sharing good conversation, and time spent with family and friends. He especially cherished his Tres Dias brothers, with whom he shared a special bond of Christian fellowship, friendship, and faith. Those who knew him will remember his strength, generosity, and devotion to those he loved—and the many lives he touched along the way. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Cora Hoek of Brentwood TN, daughter Kristen Hoek Roland (Scott) of Franklin, TN; son Brian Hoek of Brentwood, TN; grandson, Thomas Joseph “TJ” Roland; brothers David Hoek and Douglas (Maureen) Hoek of Grand Rapids, MI; and many other family members, including his favorite pup, Charlie. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00PM Saturday, October 3, 2026, with visitation beginning at 1:30PM at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home in Franklin TN. Pastor John Yancey of Lighthouse Christian Fellowship will officiate. A private burial with full military honors will take place at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Pegram, TN at 10AM on Thursday, September 24.
