William Mastin Hewgley Jr., born June 29, 1937, in Ashland City, TN, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, in Nashville, TN. He was 89 years old.
William’s long life was marked by love, devotion, and a steadfast dedication to family. Known for his integrity, kindness, and strength of character, he touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was raised in Ashland City by his parents, William Hewgley and Hannah Clark Hewgley, both of whom preceded him in death. William also fondly remembered his beloved sister, Ruth Wayman, and his son, Chris Hewgley, who passed before him.
William was devoted to his wife, Emily Hewgley, who survives him and with whom he shared a deep and enduring partnership built on mutual respect and affection. Together, they raised a family that was the center of William’s world. He is also survived by his son Steve (Laura) Hewgley, his granddaughter Stevie Hewgley, and his great grandson Archer, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride. William’s legacy lives on through them, as well as through the countless stories and memories shared with extended family and friends.
Throughout his life, William approached every endeavor with diligence and warmth, forging lasting bonds within his community and among his loved ones. His wisdom and compassion were evident in every interaction, and his generosity extended far beyond his immediate family.
William’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him. His gentle guidance, steady presence, and loving heart leave an enduring legacy that will be felt for generations to come. In remembering William, we honor a life well lived—a life defined by dedication, humility, and love.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his spirit will remain with them always.
