Grant Clasby

Robert Grant Clasby, age 62, of Murfreesboro, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at his residence.

Grant was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and shortly after he moved to Greenwich, Connecticut, where he grew up until eighth grade when he moved to Dallas, Texas. Grant was a manager for his family’s department store business in Oklahoma, Anthony’s. He continued to run the store after the family business was acquired by Stage, until he moved to Tennessee to open Murfreesboro’s first Hobby Lobby. While working retail full time, Grant achieved his bachelor’s degree in Information Technology in his 50s and spent the rest of his career serving in IT support.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Leroy Clasby Junior and Dana Jane Anthony Burns, and his oldest brother, Mark Bower Clasby.

Grant is survived by his wife, Vickie Lynn Clasby, of Nashville, Tennessee; three sons, Christopher Michael Clasby, of Cotopaxi, Colorado, Sean Michael Henderson, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Ryan Patrick Henderson, and his wife Alexa, of Nashville, Tennessee; two daughters, Dana LeeAnn Moody, and her husband Jimmy, of Franklin, Tennessee, and Molly Elizabeth Henderson, of Hendersonville, Tennessee; sister, Jane Yakots, and her husband, Steve, of Atlanta, Georgia; three brothers, Steve Clasby and his wife, Susan, of Dallas, Texas, Dwight Clasby and his wife, Julie, of Denver, Colorado, and Brad Clasby and his wife, Pam, of Greensboro, North Carolina; two grandsons, James Marion Moody IV and Jackson Clasby Moody.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Jacob Scrimpshire. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Sarah Cannon Research.
