Rose Wright

April 6, 1932 — May 21, 2022

Franklin

Rose P. Wright (MamaRose), 90 of Franklin, TN slipped peacefully away to be with the Lord, her guide and savior, on May 21, 2022. Born in Gates, TN in 1932 to the late Raymond and Ora Pennington, preceded in death by her husband Jere, sister Dean and survived by her daughter Jerrie Lynn (Michael) Martin, and son Kevin Wright.

Rose loved adventure and traveling throughout the Western US, Alaska and Canada riding horses and snow mobiles in her late 70s as well as traveling abroad with her daughter and son in law.

She began music lessons at 9 and was asked to play publicly at a Sunday School Service for the first time at age 12 and recounted playing Hymn 129 "Give me Thy Heart" "as it had never been played before or since".

“Give me thy heart”, says the Father above-

No gift so precious to Him as our love;

Softly He whispers wherever thou art,

“Gratefully trust Me and give Me thy heart.”

She eventually settled in Nashville and was the organist at Crievewood Methodist Church for 28 years.

An accomplished knitter, seamstress, devoted wife, excellent homemaker and amazing Mother, her greatest life accomplishment began after the death of her sister and business partner in 1984 when she opened and operated "The Heirloom Shop" selling upscale gifts and collectables for 23 years on Historic Main Street in Franklin, TN.  Relying on her resilience and tenacity, while trusting in guidance from the Lord and help of her daughter, she assembled an incredible and loyal team of ladies who worked together building relationships with the community while becoming friends for life resulting in Rose’s legacy as an exemplary female entrepreneur. Never letting it go to her head she attributed the success to “dumb luck and GOOD HELP”

Now, 38 years later, “The Heirloom Shop” is still the Jewel of Historic Main Street thriving under its third owner in the same location.

A faithful Christian, generous, kind, funny, and warm-hearted lady she will truly be missed and certainly remembered with the highest regards.
